AMiner Thinking
AMiner Thinking is a Deep Research feature built on Zhipu's GLM series thinking models. Through knowledge engineering techniques such as reinforcement learning and multi-tool agent invocation, it retrieves and reasons in parallel based on the AMiner research database and public web databases to help produce research reports.
After the December 2025 update, AMiner Thinking supports selecting a personal academic space or uploading local files to conduct research within a scoped knowledge base, further enhancing the professionalism and credibility of the research. It covers multiple deep research scenarios, including literature reviews, research proposals, and industry research.
What are the differences between AMiner Thinking modes?
- Literature Review: A systematic review, summary, analysis, and critique of existing research on a given discipline, field, or specific research topic. It is a standalone academic text (and can also serve as part of a research proposal or thesis). The core question it answers is "what has been done, what hasn't, what controversies exist, and where future breakthroughs may lie." In this mode, AMiner Thinking prioritizes literature resources from the AMiner research database.
- Research Proposal: Essentially the "blueprint" or "plan" for a study—a formal document in which the researcher explains to their advisor or review committee "what research I plan to conduct, why, how, and what the expected outcomes are." The core is to justify the necessity, feasibility, and reasonableness of the research. In this mode, AMiner Thinking prioritizes literature resources from the AMiner research database.
- Industry Research: A "decision-making tool for industry practice." The core is field research and data analysis on the current state, trends, and issues of a specific industry. In essence, it is "a systematic presentation of industry reality" serving "business decisions, policy-making, market positioning, and other practical needs." In this mode, AMiner Thinking prioritizes core sources such as annual reports and white papers.
- General Mode: Suited for general research needs. The information sources called upon balance academic literature and real-time web information, making it applicable to a broad range of research scenarios.
Are AMiner Thinking's research reports trustworthy?
- A credible, authentic data foundation: AMiner integrates authoritative repositories such as arXiv and PubMed along with over 300 million papers worldwide, covering more than 100 first-level disciplines. It performs academically enhanced retrieval, prioritizing high-quality papers as generation sources. A research knowledge graph at the ten-billion scale enhances the professionalism and credibility of deep research, fully supporting the research closed loop of "question planning → academic search → reasoning analysis → research output."
- Standardized, traceable citation sources: All content in reports generated by AMiner Thinking comes with detailed citation sources. Every result can be traced back to its original source and context, making it easy for users to verify and validate the report content.
